Every parent knows the snack dilemma.

Whether it's packing lunchboxes, getting everyone out of the door on busy mornings or finding something to keep little tummies going between meals, snacks have become an essential part of family life. But with so many products on supermarket shelves, are parents really being given the healthier choices they're looking for?

We’re Imaginakery, the company behind Jungle Squad. We are on a mission to create healthier, great-tasting snacks that work for modern families. We wanted to understand the real challenges parents face when choosing snacks for their children.

So, we asked them.

We surveyed 2,000 UK parents of primary school-aged children, exploring everything from children's snacking habits and lunchbox routines to shopping behaviours and what parents want from today's snack aisle.

The findings were clear: parents aren't looking for perfection; they're looking for better choices that fit into everyday family life.

Children's Snacking Habits in the UK

Our research shows that snacking is playing a bigger role in family life than ever before.

Almost one in five children ask for five or more snacks every day, while more than a third of parents receive the first snack request before 9am. Kids snacks have become a daily necessity rather than an occasional treat.

We also discovered that:

  • 81% of parents want more lower sugar snacks
  • 63% would switch to healthier options if they were easier to find
  • More than half regularly run out of lunchbox ideas

Parents want healthier choices, but busy lives, confusing packaging and limited options often make those decisions harder than they should be.

Why We Created Jungle Squad Lower Sugar Cake Bars

The research confirmed what inspired us to create Imaginakery in the first place.

Parents told us they want snacks that children genuinely enjoy eating, but they also want products that make them feel better about what's going into lunchboxes and snack cupboards. Too often, they're forced to compromise between taste, convenience and nutrition.

That's why we created Jungle Squad Lower Sugar Cake Bars.

We wanted to create a delicious, lunchbox-friendly cake bar with significantly less sugar than traditional cake bars, helping parents make an easier, better choice without compromising on taste.

The Future of Family Snacking

At Imaginakery, we believe healthier snacking shouldn't mean sacrificing convenience or enjoyment. Small changes across the snack aisle can make a meaningful difference for families, and we're committed to playing our part.

The Great British Snacking Crisis is the start of that conversation. We hope the research encourages more discussion, more innovation and, ultimately, better choices for parents and children alike.
